A Look at Biden's Political Career
Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (born November 20, 1942) is an American politician currently serving as the 46th and current president of the United States. A member of the Democratic Party, Biden served as the 47th vice president of the United States from 2009 to 2017 under Barack Obama and as a United States senator from Delaware from 1973 to 2009.
Early Life and Education
Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and raised in Claymont, Delaware. He graduated from the University of Delaware and Syracuse University Law School. After working as a lawyer, Biden entered politics in 1970 when he was elected to the New Castle County Council. In 1972, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, becoming one of the youngest senators in U.S. history at the time.
