Cruise Ship Battered by 30-Foot Waves
Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Encountered High Winds and Rough Seas
Passengers Faced a Worst Case Weather Scenario
A Royal Caribbean cruise ship encountered high winds and rough seas, leaving passengers facing a worst case weather scenario. The Saga Cruises Spirit of Discovery was battered with 30-foot waves, causing an automatic safety system to kick in. Passengers described the experience as terrifying, with some saying they feared for their lives.
The incident occurred on a cruise from Southampton to the Canary Islands. The ship was reportedly caught in a storm with winds of up to 100 miles per hour. The waves were so large that they smashed windows and caused flooding on the lower decks.
The ship's automatic safety system was activated, which slowed the ship down and changed its course. The crew also took extra precautions, such as securing loose items and closing off certain areas of the ship.
Passengers were eventually able to disembark the ship in the Canary Islands. Some of them have since spoken out about their experience, describing it as "horrifying" and "the worst thing I've ever been through."
